Guns 101: Gun Owner Basics

A lot of things happened in 2020, including a huge increase in new gun ownership. If you are thinking about buying a gun for the first time, you may feel overwhelmed and have a ton of questions and confusion. While gun safety and ownership is something that should be taken very seriously, purchasing your first gun doesn’t have to be scary or intimidating. We’ve compiled a few tips below to help you get started on your gun ownership endeavor.

A Clean Gun Is A Safe Gun

Keeping your firearm clean is less about aesthetics than it is about safety and legality. All NEMO firearms come with a cleaning guide included in their respective owner’s manuals, and there are excellent resources online.

Store Your Gun Safely & Securely

As a gun owner, it is your responsibility to keep firearms out of the hands of unauthorized persons. The right safe storage solution can vary from person to person, which is why it is so important to do your own research and understand the variety of storage options available.

Educate Yourself & Your Family On Gun Safety

It’s important to have an overall knowledge of gun safety and usage before purchasing a firearm. Also, it is extremely important to educate your entire family on the seriousness of gun safety, so that everyone understands that a gun is a weapon and not a toy to play with.

As a reminder, you must understand and commit to these important gun safety rules:

  1. Treat every firearm as if it’s loaded.
  2. Continuous training and firearms education.
  3. Only point the firearm at things you are willing to shoot.
  4. Always be sure of your target and what’s behind it.
  5. Only put your finger on the trigger/inside the trigger guard when you are safely ready to fire.

Find The Right Rifle For You

Our final tip is to try out different rifles to find the best one for you and define the purpose you will be using it for. No two firearms are made exactly alike, which is why it is so important to test out your options before purchasing a new gun. Browse our available firearms at https://nemoarms.com/
