Tips and Tricks to Finding a Gun Range You’ll Love

Tips and Tricks to Finding a Gun Range You’ll Love

You’ve got a gun, you’ve got the gear, now all you need is to find a place to shoot. When it comes to shooting at the range, we at Nemo Arms know how important it is to find a range that will fit your needs and make you feel like you’re at home.

Looking for the perfect range is so much more than just Googling “Shooting range near me”. Finding a range that you’ll love and want to continue to come back to is the ultimate goal. To help you take steps in the right path of finding your go-to gun range, we’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks to hone in on during your search to be successful.

  • Indoors vs. Outdoors

The first thing to ask yourself is if you’d like an indoor or outdoor gun range. This will cut your search results in half to help you narrow in on what shooting range style you’d prefer. Maybe you’ll realize you want both and now know you have two different search paths to start the process.

  • Proximity

A very important second question is how close do you want to commute? If a range is too far away, the reality is that you may never want to take the time to drive to it if you end up loving it. Determine how far you’d like to drive and build your search radius around that distance.

  • Membership Benefits

Are you looking to consistently visit a range? It could be worth weighing the different features of range membership benefits. Various ranges will offer member incentives and promotions. If you plan on visiting a range frequently, it could be worth noting what benefits are important to you.

  • Certified Range Safety Officer

Finding a range with a qualified certified range safety officer can be extremely beneficial for you and your time spent at the range. Being able to utilize someone who possesses great knowledge and skills of conducting and supervising safe shooting could advance your skills in your time spent at the range.

  • Gun Shop On Site

In case there is ever a chance you forget your safety gear or something breaks, having quality safety and other firearm equipment available on site provides shooters peace of mind. Along with safety gear, knowing there is ammo available on site is HUGE. You never know how much ammo you will rip through while trying to hone in on your skills. Having the ability to stock up without having to leave can be a game changer.

  • Handgun Rentals

Having the ability to rent and try other handguns can be extremely helpful and fun. Not only is it enjoyable to try different makes and models to see what’s out there, it can also come in handy when going to purchase your next firearm. Going to a shooting range with the ability to test these different handguns out is a great feature to look for.

  • Provides Classes

If you are looking to advance your skills and make your time count at the range, enrolling in classes could be a priority on your list. Finding a range that offers classes at various skill levels and on different topics is something to keep in mind when shopping around for a new range to call home.

Everyone has different wants and needs when it comes to finding a shooting range. Don’t be afraid to shop around and try them out. Be sure to ask other shooters you’re friends with on what they like and if they have a preferred range. You will know when you’ve found the range for you and by using these tips and tricks hopefully it will make your search easier and more enjoyable.

Brace Notice

On November 8, 2023, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas granted the Plaintiff’s motion for a preliminary injunction staying ATF’s recently enacted rule regarding stabilizing/arm braces for pistols in its entirety. A copy of the court’s order has been made available to me.

ATF appealed this decision to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on November 29, 2023, and that appeal is currently pending. As a result, the legal status of stabilizing/arm braces for pistols has not been resolved with finality and is subject to change via this appeal, or otherwise, without warning or notice. Buyer accepts sole responsibility for any such legal changes and their impact on the status of the purchased firearm, and acknowledges that all sales of stabilizing/arm brace equipped firearms are final.
